SIDEWALK SALE THIS WEEKEND. BE THERE!

I just got back from a trip to North Carolina, where my mother is renting a house in the mountains from a lady named Teresa who is a potter. Or maybe she refers to herself as a ceramicist or a clay artist.

I'm not exactly sure why, but I always get a big kick out of noticing how each clay artist has their own preferred terminology. For some people, the word "pottery" conjures up cheesy images of the 1970's. I happen to love the word pottery, it reminds me of cavemen. Or the scene in Pee Wee's Big Adventure where Tina is giving her "too-wer" of the Alamo.

For some people the word "ceramics" conjures up images of crappy porcelain poodles painted with shiny metallic pink glazes. Or it can have a very academic connotation, because a lot of colleges and universities will have "Ceramics 101" but not "Pottery 101" or "Clay 101."

One thing we do know is that IT'S CLAY. It comes from the Earth, and it is fun fun fun to play with. Or work with.

However you want to describe it is fine with me, just don't miss out on our Sidewalk Sale this weekend. We need to make room in the studio for our new fall inventory, so we will have some really good deals on our existing pottery/ceramics/clay products.

See you there!
