I'm sure we're not the only non-profit organization in the world without enough in the budget to pay professionals to build and maintain our website for us.

Slowly, slowly we are learning more and more about how to manage our own affairs on the internet.

It's taken me about a year to learn how to build sites on iWeb, login to the web host, upload the files... Then just when I think I have everything figured out, more troubleshooting.

The rough draft is posted at least. We'll be tweaking up the content at the next meeting, so please stay tuned. According to internet goddess Laura Fries, relevant site content is necessary for a successful website, and a relevant website is necessary for a successful organization.

It's not rocket science. Every site on the internet has a purpose, aka a "conversion goal." For example, the goal of our CCGW website is to attract new members, collect addresses for our mailing list, and accept tax-deductible donations via paypal. Our site's content and design affects our conversion rate, so we want to make sure that we do a good job representing ourselves online.

Anyway, tomorrow night is the party at Youngblood, so hopefully we'll see you there.

WOO-HOO

I think the only time I've ever heard that song outside of a hockey game was today on the radio. I love it, and I have no idea why, but its more fun to hear songs I haven't heard in a while when they come on the radio, instead of my iPod. The Woo-Hoo song reminds me of action and excitement and fun times.

That's exactly what's happening around the studio:

CCGW member Tania Julian has accepted a large order for her incredible wall tiles, and we are excited about welcoming our newest member Heather Cunningham.

Tania is hooking us up with a new sink and some more shelves. Heather is hooking us up with a big fancy kiln. Yay for efficiency!

Devanie has an awesome group in her wheel class, I happened to be in the studio during their last class and enjoyed conversing with these ladies, who told me about the farmers market in East Atlanta Village every Thursday starting at 4:30 PM. More classes coming soon, let us know what you want to take, and we'll let you know when the class starts.

The holiday sale is going to be November 29. The Gnomes said they want you to come.

PS. I talked to Jenny Runkel yesterday, the instructor for Beehive Co-op's Business Basics class. The class is taking place September 7, and I am so looking forward to it. I love Atlanta. We really are lucky to be in a city with so many opportunities for artists, and tons of resources for career development.

Cabbagetown Clay and Glass Works is a non-profit art studio cooperative. We offer members the chance to explore their artistic side on their own terms and time. You will have the freedom to make what you want, when you want to make it. (Within reason, of course.)

We currently have openings for a few new members. If interested please give us a call at 678-778-7082 or 404-840-7121. Or come visit our studio. We are conviently located off I- 20 between Grant Park and Cabbagetown, near the intersection of Boulevard and Memorial.

Cabbagetown Clay and Glass Works was established in 2002 for the purpose of providing both facilities and a supportive community for artists. Our members have many approaches to clay and glass, from production work to sculptural pieces. CCGW allows each artist to work at
his/her own pace in a communal environment that allows for individual growth and
experimentation.

CCGW is a member-owned artist cooperative studio. Our facilities are for clay and glass
artists. Our shared equipment includes electric kilns for both glass and clay, slabroller, potter’s
wheels, shared glazes, glass grinder and plenty of large work tables. Members have 24-hour access to the facilities.

CCGW is currently seeking experienced artists for membership. Members pay a monthly fee ($150) and are expected to commit to 3 months of membership. After a 30-day trial period, new members are required to pay a one-time startup fee of $200. Everyone is encouraged to participate in group shows and events.

All members assist in studio maintanence and cleaning.
